Guidelines for the use of the Superannuation Product Identification Number (SPIN) for Surcharge
Reporting Purposes have been released by the swimEC Board and can be downloaded from this page.
These guidelines will also be available from the Web Sites of the
Australian Taxation Office (ATO), Investment and Financial
Services Association (IFSA), and Association of Superannuation
Funds of Australia (ASFA).
The aims of these Guidelines are to:
- Describe the Superannuation Product Identification Number (SPIN) and the reason it is used in swimEC messaging
- Describe the use of the SPIN for Surcharge Reporting purposes as a valid alternative to the Destination Member Account Number
- Explain the registration process required to enable the SPIN to be placed on the Surcharge Reporting Directory
- Provide guidelines to industry about the steps that need to be completed prior to using the SPIN for Surcharge Reporting purposes
